Hurricane Milton Updates

Good morning Cardinal Gibbons families,
I hope and pray all of your immediate and extended families have fared well as we experienced the effects of Hurricane Milton.

I am happy to note that the impact to our campus was minimal and much of the rain from the beginning of the week is now gone. In addition, Dr. Rigg and the Office of Catholic Schools have us returning to normal operations tomorrow, Friday, October 11.

Tomorrow will remain, as previously scheduled, a Day 2M and Early Dismissal at 1:10pm. In addition, our annual golf tournament will proceed as scheduled tomorrow.

A big thank you to our maintenance team on assessing and preparing the campus early this morning so we are able to close out the 1st quarter tomorrow.

Lastly, we continue to pray for those on the Gulf Coast and Central Florida as they experienced the worst that Hurricane Milton had to offer.

Please read below for information from Dr. Rigg, Superintendent of Catholic Schools regarding school closures for Wednesday, October 9th:

Our Catholic schools will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9. We will also be cancelling all school operations (including extra-curricular activities, meetings, etc.) scheduled for 5:00 PM or after on Tuesday, Oct. 8 (tomorrow).

We have not yet made any decisions regarding school on Thursday, Oct. 10. We are continuing to closely monitor the progression of Hurricane Milton and are in direct contact with the National Weather Service. You should closely monitor email communications throughout this week for important updates about storm impacts and school operations.

As it pertains to Cardinal Gibbons, please note that there will be no activity bus tomorrow.

The PSAT scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled and will be postponed for October 22nd. More information regarding testing will be provided at a later time.

We continue to pray for those in the direct path of the storm.

Good afternoon CGHS Families,
The Archdiocese of Miami continues to monitor the progression of Hurricane Milton as it approaches Florida. As of now, the storm seems to be approaching more slowly than anticipated. Please be aware that a decision regarding school operations for Thursday, October 10 have not been made as of yet. We anticipate a decision later today. As such, please remain attentive to your emails as we go into the evening. If/when a decision is made, we will email and text our entire school community.

This is a reminder that school has already been closed for tomorrow, October 9th.

Please continue to pray for those most directly impacted by the storm.

Good evening Cardinal Gibbons families,
Please see the attached Media Release regarding our response to Hurricane Milton. As indicated in this document, Catholic schools in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties will be closed on both Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.

At this point, we plan for normal resumption of school operations for Friday, Oct. 11.

Please continue to monitor your emails and texts closely for further updates as we approach the end of the week.

We ask that you join us in prayer for all those who are in the direct path of the storm.
