On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Cardinal Gibbons community celebrated the Installation and Commissioning of President Tom Mahon and Principal Oscar Cedeño with a Mass led by Monsignor Kelly.

The Mass was attended by the Cardinal Gibbons student body, faculty, staff and community members, as well as members of their families. Representatives from the student body, faculty, Parent Teacher Fellowship and Alumni Association also participated in the Installation Mass, showing their good faith in Cardinal Gibbons’ new leadership team.

This installation of President Mahon and Principal Cedeño marks the introduction of the “President-Principal” model to Cardinal Gibbons, for the first time in the school’s 58-year history. This new administrative model allows for President Mahon to focus on the advancement of Cardinal Gibbon’s overall mission, including development
and external relations, while Principal Cedeño manages day-to-day operations and activities of the school.

In remarks following the installation and blessing given by Monsignor Kelly, Mahon, expressed his immense gratitude that his new position will allow him to continue serving the Cardinal Gibbons community—namely the students and faculty. “To the representatives here today from the Parent-Teacher Fellowship, our students and our faculty, as long as I have strength, I will work for you,” Mahon said. “God has truly worked through me...this is not about me; it’s about God, and all of you, who I serve.”

In celebration of the Installation Mass, Cardinal Gibbons' Parent-Teacher Fellowship sponsored a luncheon for all faculty members and served cake to students during lunch periods.
