Cardinal Gibbons pole vaulter Jimmy Nutt was recognized as one of the top high school track and field athletes in Broward County and was named the Sun Sentinel's All-County: Broward 2A-1A Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Nutt, who recently graduated in May of 2019, capped off his high school career by winning gold in the Class 2A pole vaulting state championship. Nutt participated in the Chiefs track and field program all four years of high school and hopes to continue competing at the collegiate level.
In addition to Nutt's recognition as Athlete of the Year, a number of Cardinal Gibbons coaches also earned All-County honors. Jason Hamilton (baseball) and Jeremiah Whitfield (track and field) were named Broward County Coach of the Year for their respective sports.
