The Cardinal Gibbons Mock Trial Team recently competed at Florida State University’s Sunshine State Showdown, putting its preparation, teamwork, courtroom skills and legal knowledge to the test against teams from across Florida.

During the competition, students argued a criminal case involving a fraternity hazing incident that resulted in a manslaughter charge. Representing Cardinal Gibbons were Leslie Umana, Maria Villarreal Rojas, Isabella Mergler, Lilly Zinn, Mikaela Capriles, Sebastian Ramirez, Maia Mackowski and Jozepha Yultyev.

Lilly Zinn and Maria Villarreal Rojas received Outstanding Attorney Awards for their performances during the competition.
