Akerah Jones and Sam Mrky were crowned regional champions in their respective events after stellar individual performances at the FHSAA Region 4-2A Track and Field Championship, held at Calvary Christian Academy on May 1. 

Sophomore Akerah Jones helped the girls' team to the program's first-ever regional team title, taking first overall in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 14.89 while also finishing second in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Aniyah Jones finished behind Akerah in both the 100 and 300 Meter Hurdles events, taking second and third, respectively. 

Mrky, a junior, was the lone regional champion for the boys' team; he placed first in the Pole Vault with a season-best 4.45 meters. Senior Gary Pache followed close behind Mrky in third place, clearing 3.75 meters. 

Two of Cardinal Gibbons' girls' relay teams also finished at the top of the region. The 4x400 relay team of Akerah Jones, Aniyah Jones, Aniyah Mosley and Victoria Hickox finished first overall with a time of 4:04.19. Emily Baldwin, Sydney Sinclair, Izzy Dugarte and Emily Opalinski went on to finish first in the 4x800 relay, clocking a time of 9:55.0. 

Isis Lewis, Leah Lemon and Emily Baldwin rounded out the top performers for the girls' team, each earning a top-three finish. Lewis
 finished, second in the Long Jump, Lemon finished third in the 100 Meter Dash and Baldwin finished third overall in the 3200 Meter Run. 

Davon Kiser and Jackson Crozier were the regional runners-up in their respective events on the boys' side of the competition. Kiser ran a 10.70 in the 100 Meter Dash, finishing just behind Gulliver Prep's Jalen Brown, while Crozier took second overall in the Shot Put with a season-best 14.78-meter throw.
