Cardinal Gibbons High School has earned the College Board AP ® Computer Science Female
Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science A (CSA) and AP Computer Science Principles (CSP). Schools honored with an AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded access to AP computer science courses for female students in their communities.
During the 2023-24 school year, 1,153 institutions earned an AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for CSA, CSP or both courses. Award contenders must either reach 50% or higher female representation in AP computer science courses or have the percentage of female AP computer science exam takers meet or exceed that of the school’s female population. Cardinal Gibbons was one of only 69 to be recognized for improving female representation in both AP computer science courses.
“We’re honored to receive the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award. This recognition reflects our commitment to empowering young women with opportunities in computer science, shaping their futures, and fostering greater diversity in fields that drive innovation.” – Dr. Katrina Azevedo, Vice Principal for Academics and Curriculum
