The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs are officially the 2020 Class 4A Football State Champions.

Head coach Matt DuBuc and the Chiefs earned the school’s second football state title after a 35-21 victory over the Bolles Bulldogs at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Despite the Bulldogs striking first off of a 60-yard rush, the Chiefs found their footing in the second quarter, going on to score 35 consecutive points before the Bulldogs answered back. Jesse Anderson, Kamari Moulton and Clemson signee Troy Stellato all posted points for the Chiefs.

Senior quarterback Brody Palhegyi, now a two-time state champion, was instrumental in the team's dominant performance on Bobby Bowden Field. He closed out his final high school game by throwing four touchdowns and no interceptions and going 29 of 33 for 358 yards.

Congratulations to our players, coaches and athletic staff on an outstanding championship season.
