Zach Allen '17 finished third overall in the Men's 1-Meter Diving event while competing with the University of Georgia Swimming and Diving Team at the Tennessee Diving Invitational at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on Saturday, Jan. 4.
Allen scored a total of 314.35 points to earn third, falling just seven points behind the second-place finisher. Fellow Cardinal Gibbons alumnus, Hudson Coldren, finished 29th overall in the preliminary round, with a score of 222.05. On the final day of competition, on Sunday, Jan. 5, Allen closed out the meet with a 15th place finish in the Men's Platform event.
This outstanding performance came for Allen just weeks after receiving SEC honors in November 2019, when the UGA junior was honored as the Men's Diver of the Week.
During his four-year swimming and diving career at Cardinal Gibbons, Allen earned three FHSAA State Champion titles, as well as numerous top district and regional meet finishes.
