The Cardinal Gibbons Speech and Debate program has continued to flourish, despite the challenges of practicing and competing virtually.
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, 25 first-year Speech and Debate team members competed in the Debate Broward After School Tournament (AST) #1. Despite this tournament being their first-ever, members secured top-ten finishes across multiple events.
Top-finishers included:

Ricardo Sosa placed 3rd in Lincoln-Douglas Debate
Jessica Cinci placed 4th in Informative Speaking
Maria Tovar placed 5th in Original Oratory
Daniella Borges placed 6th in Informative Speaking
Emma Ramsingh placed 7th in Impromptu Speaking
Taylor Barnett and Amelia Roloff placed 7th in Public Forum Debate
Skyler Vanderpool and Blair Nathaniel placed 8th in Public Forum Debate
Jenna Haupert placed 9th in Original Oratory
Toula Petros and Andrea Stampone placed 10th in Public Forum Debate
