Music

The Cardinal Gibbons Music Department allows students to express themselves through multiple performance opportunities both on and off campus. Cardinal Gibbons has a diverse selection of music courses available for musicians and artists at every level. Through a structured curriculum, students explore various musical genres, periods and techniques, while developing a strong understanding of musical theory. Students have the opportunity to explore their interests and abilities through group and solo performances, classes in theory and history and music production. Encompassed within our Music Department are several performing ensembles, including marching band, concert chorus, strings and percussion ensemble.

Cardinal Gibbons is a member of NAFME and FMEA divisions.

Tri-M Music Honor Society: Cardinal Gibbons has its own Tri-M chapter (912) The Tri-M Music Honor Society® recognizes and rewards students based on their accomplishments and service activities.

Band

Chorus

Our Chorus program provides students with the opportunity to develop their vocal skills while being involved in several different performance ensembles. All chorus ensembles are audition based and allow students to receive individualized attention based on their skill level and individual needs. Chorus participates in All-State competitions, Music Performance Assessment (MPA), Solo and Ensemble and outreach activities.

Several performance opportunities are conducted throughout the year, including Christmas and Spring concerts, Disney’s Candlelight and Choir Tours, as well as opportunities to perform the National Anthem at professional sporting events, local events in the community and other musical performance trips as determined by the director.

Strings Ensemble

Percussion Ensemble

Concert Percussion/Drumline is open to students with any level of previous playing experience. Through this course, students will learn a variety of percussion instruments, as well as the technical skills necessary to excel at playing them. As a component of the Marching Band, the drumline performs at all marching band functions and events. Members of this ensemble participate in FBA (Florida Bandmaster's Association) Solo and Ensemble.
