Eric Tarmey Memorial Scholarship
Eric Tarmey, Class of 2011, lost his life in a tragic car accident at the age of 23. While at Cardinal Gibbons, Eric was an energetic, enthusiastic young man with a passion for soccer. He almost always had a smile on his face, counted almost everyone as a friend, and maintained a solid "B" average. After graduation he pursued his passion for soccer at Nova Southeastern, Andrew College and Keiser University.
Eric’s family has chosen to memorialize his time and contributions to Cardinal Gibbons High School by establishing a scholarship in his name. This scholarship is open to all current freshmen, sophomores and juniors and will be announced and awarded at the Academic Awards Ceremony on May 15, 2023.
The recipient of The Eric Tarmey Memorial Scholarship will be chosen by the Tarmey Family, based on an essay submission. Students may choose one of the following topics:
- Why is a Cardinal Gibbons education important to me?
- What community service have I been involved in which would make me a worthy recipient of this award?
If your family tree includes a parent or grandparent who is a Cardinal Gibbons High School alumnus/a, you may be eligible for up to $1,000 in scholarship money to be used for your future high school tuition and college expenses.
The recipient of the Legacy Scholarship will be chosen by the Alumni Board, based on video and application submission. This scholarship is open to all current freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors and will be announced and awarded at the Academic Awards Ceremony on May 15, 2023.
Students may choose from one of the following topics:
- What is your favorite aspect of the Cardinal Gibbons family?
- Pick an experience for your own life and explain how it has influenced your development.
- Explain what it means for you to continue the Gibbons Legacy.
