Engineering Pathway
About the Program
Welcome to the Engineering Pathway, an innovative and hands-on program designed to immerse students in real-world engineering challenges. Through a combination of in-class learning, practical experience, and industry collaboration, our pathway prepares students for careers in engineering, robotics, manufacturing, and beyond.
What to Expect:
- Electrathon Team Participation: Students work as part of a team to design, build, and race an Electrathon car, with an opportunity to compete in the Electrathon race in Miami.
- Robotic Arm Development: From prototype to a fully functional, full-size robotic arm, students gain critical experience in automation, design, and engineering problem-solving.
- Guest Speakers: Hear from professionals in the fields of engineering and robotics, offering insights and sharing experiences that inspire and inform students.
Field Trips: Students will attend external field trips that provide hands-on opportunities beyond the classroom environment with local partners (i.e. universities, companies, etc.) - Advanced Engineering Courses: Over the span of three years, students will complete courses in Engineering Design, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and Robotics.
Hands-On Learning: Students will engage in real-world projects, such as building a self-driving car and mastering CNC (Computer Numerical Control) and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) systems. - Certifications: Students have the opportunity to earn certifications in Welding, CAD, Blueprint Reading, and CNC, providing additional credentials for future careers or college applications.
Recommended Courses:
Physics and Calculus to support higher-level engineering concepts.
Clubs:
STEM Honor Society, Robotics
Academic and Program Requirements:
GPA: A 3.0 GPA is required to enroll and maintain in the program. Students must maintain a solid academic standing, staying in good standing and not on probation (attendance, academic performance, or discipline). Students must earn a C or higher in Pathway courses to maintain status in the program.
