Allied Health Science Pathway
About the program
This pathway offers high school students a comprehensive overview of the nursing profession. Focused on attaining a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, the curriculum blends classroom learning with hands-on experience. Students engage in practical skills development within the classroom setting and further enhance their capabilities through clinical rotations at the hospital, providing a well-rounded foundation for a future in nursing.
What to expect:
- Guest Speakers: Throughout the program, students will attend presentations by healthcare professionals, offering valuable insights into the nursing field and various career opportunities.
- Field Trips: Students will take part in external field trips to local universities, hospitals, and healthcare companies, providing hands-on learning experiences beyond the classroom.
- Hands-On Labs and Clinicals: Students will engage in practical skills development within the classroom through hands-on labs and during clinical rotations, where they will have the chance to work directly with patients and healthcare professionals in real clinical settings.
- Certifications: Students will have the opportunity to earn their CNA certification upon successful completion of the program, giving them a head start in the healthcare field.
Recommended Courses:
DE Anatomy & Physiology, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, AP or DE English; A or B in all science, math, and English courses

Academic and Program Requirements:
GPA: A 3.0 GPA is required to enroll and maintain in the program. Students must maintain a solid academic standing, staying in good standing and not on probation (attendance, academic performance, or discipline). Students must earn a C or higher in Pathway courses to maintain status in the program.
