Cardinal Gibbons High School encourages students to strive for academic leadership which is characterized by appropriate course selections, positive attitude, optimum performance, responsibility to self, and responsibility to the class. The school attempts to design courses which correspond to the specific needs of students across the educational spectrum, challenging students to attain their highest potential without frustrating their natural ability.  As a result, many courses are available at various levels: basic, standard / college prep, honors, Dual Enrollment, and Advanced Placement including the following:
 

Honors (H) Courses

Algebra I, Algebra II, American Government, American Literature, Band II, Biology I, British Literature, Calculus, Chemistry, Composition II, Economics, French I - IV, Geometry, Jazz Ensemble II, Journalism III, Latin I - II, Orchestra, Physics, Pre-calculus, Psychology, Spanish I - IV, Statistics, Types of Literature, U.S. History, Western European Literature, and World History.
 

Dual Enrollment (D.E.) Courses

Note that these college-level courses with college-credit potential are offered in cooperation with St. Thomas University:
Chemistry, Composition, Honors Writing, French, Intermediate French, Spanish, Intermediate Spanish, Psychology, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, European History, and Introduction to Business
 

Advanced Placement (A.P.) Courses

Note that these college-level courses with college-credit potential have been audited and approved by The College Board:
American Government, Art Portfolio, Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, English / British Literature, English Language and Composition, European History, French Language, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Physics, Psychology, Spanish Language, Statistics, and United States History.
