Paul D. Ott, Principal
Mr. Ott has taught at Cardinal Gibbons since 1970 and was appointed Gibbons' fourth principal in 2003. He teaches literature to seniors. A CGHS alumnus (1966-the third class), he returned to Ft. Lauderdale after earning his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Ott also has a masters from Florida Atlantic University. He served as assistant principal since 1993, and before that as student activities director. In high school, Mr. Ott swam and played basketball. He and his wife Therese ('69) have three sons: Matthew '96, Michael '99, and Daniel '04.
Michael D. Morrill, Athletic Director
Coach Morrill is in his second year as Cardinal Gibbons' athletic director and his 25th year coaching at CGHS. He teaches a popular history class, and has been head football coach since 1999. Coach Morrill has been recognized by the Sun-Sentinel as Coach of the Year (1999), and as a Miami Dolphins Coach of the Week. Of the 50-plus football teams in Broward, he has the third-longest tenure among head coaches. Under Coach Morrill, the Chiefs have won over 70 games and made nine trips to the playoffs. He previously coached basketball and baseball, and was assistant A.D. for over a decade. He has served on the FACA board of directors. A native of Southbridge, Massachusetts and a 1985 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Coach Morrill and his wife Wyndie live in Pompano Beach with their three children: Emily '08, Mikey '09, and Danny '12.
Margo Flack, Assistant Athletic Director
Coach Flack is in her second year as Gibbons' assistant athletic director and her 11th year as head coach of the Lady Chiefs soccer team. She is a 1998 graduate from CGHS and returned as an assistant a year later. Coach Flack has taught science and physical education. She played soccer for Nova Southeastern University. In high school she also played volleyball and softball. Coach Flack has been a part of all eight girls' soccer district titles, either as a player or the head coach. Her teams have collected over 175 wins, six district championships, one state runner-up trophy, and nine straight regional playoff berths. Coach Flack has been named Sun-Sentinel Coach of the Year (2009). She and her husband Shane have three young children: Wyatt, Carson, and Skylar. Coach Flack works in the Athletic Office full-time.
Matt DuBuc, Associate Asst. Athletic Director
Coach DuBuc is in his ninth year coaching football at Cardinal Gibbons. He teaches world history to freshmen, teaches geography, and serves as the team's offensive coordinator. A 1992 CGHS alumnus, Coach DuBuc played football and baseball for Texas Tech University and then played professionally in the Canadian Football League. He has a masters in education from West Texas A&M University. He has the unusual distinction of being on both a State Finalist football squad (1990) and a State Final Four baseball team (1992). Coach DuBuc was on the first two Gibbons football playoff teams and in the lineup for three baseball regional titles. He previously served as a baseball coach. Coach DuBuc and his wife Melanie ('96) have two young sons: Trey and Trent.
Austin Scott, Sports Information Director
Coach Scott is entering his first year as SID, and his sixth in the Gibbons Athletic Department. He has previously coached cross country, track, and worked as a substitute teacher. He is responsible for the athletic website, the weekly email newsletter (Chiefs Sports Report), and compiling team records and statistics. In addition, Mr. Scott assists with print publications and has various other administrative duties. He is a graduate of Belmont Abbey College (NC) with a degree in history, and a 2002 alumnus of CGHS. Both of his parents are also Gibbons alumni.
