The Boys Soccer team defeated University School tonight 2-0, behind two goals from senior Christopher Delinois. Junior Nicolas Ketchum had the shutout. The team's clutch performance came in their first-ever district final on campus, and they picked up their first championship trophy since 2009. The Chiefs will now host American Heritage Delray in a regional quarterfinal on Wednesday. In Boys Basketball action, the Chiefs also topped University, beating the Suns 72-64 in overtime in Davie to wrap district play at 6-0. Both wins avenged 2012 district playoff losses.
The Boys Soccer team picked up a dramatic win last night against Chaminade in the district semifinals at home. Anton Segota scored in the final minute of regulation to put the Chiefs ahead 1-0. Nicholas Ketchum had eight saves in the shutout. Gibbons now hosts University School on Friday night (7:00) for the district title. The win yesterday clinches a regional playoff berth for the Chiefs. 1/24/13
The Boys Soccer team hosts the Class 2A, District 14 tournament this week. Gibbons, the top seed, plays Chaminade in the first semifinal tonight (5:00). The championship is Friday (7:00). Admission is $6. This is the first time the Chiefs have hosted the tournament on campus. 1/23/13
Cardinal Gibbons celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Wrestling program on January 11th. Mayor Seiler proclaimed the day "Coach Frank Pettineo Day" in Fort Lauderdale. The current Chiefs lineup picked up dominant victories over Miramar and Calvary Christian. Dozens of team alumni, from every year, and their parents returned to celebrate.
The Wrestling team took 2nd at the Broward County Athletic Association Championships tonight at Pompano Beach High. Three Chiefs came home as individual champions: juniors Jamel Morris (120), Jamal Morris (126 pounds), and Anthony Vazquez (138). Nicholas Limperis (145) took 2nd. Ryan Thomas (195) took 3rd. Ross Clark (106) and Trevor Martin (182) finished 4th.
The Girls and Boys Cross Country teams held their 42nd annual banquet this past Sunday at the Lighthouse Point Yacht & Racquet Club. Check out Mr. Perry's season highlight video. The following girls were given awards over brunch: Nicole Clark (Freshman Award), Brittany Morgan (Sophomore), Victoria Vigarino (Junior), and Morgan Rodriguez (Senior).

The Girls Soccer team heads into the District Tournament this week as the top seed. They are slated to play the winner of Mater Lakes and Somerset in a semifinal at 5:00 on Wednesday. With a win, they'll play Chaminade at 7:00 on Friday for the district title. All games are being held at the University School Athletic Complex in Davie. 1/14/13
