Teachers and Staff

Teachers at Cardinal Gibbons come from many parts of the United States and represent various educational backgrounds.

These dedicated teachers are, committed to the ideals of Catholicism and excellence in education, comprise the vast majority of the administrative, teaching, and coaching staff. Several are Gibbons graduates. Others have sent their own children through CGHS.

Franciscan Sisters

Sr. Marie Schramko and Sr. Janet Rieden are members of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Mary Immaculate of Joliet, Illinois, a religious community chiefly devoted to teaching. The congregation was founded in 1865. The Sisters staff schools in Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, California, Colorado, Alabama, Wisconsin, Florida and missions in Brazil. The Piarist Fathers

St. Joseph Calasanz 
Saint Joseph Calasanz was born in Aragon, Spain in 1557. Well educated, he became a priest and exercised his ministry in Spain. He later dedicated himself to the education of poor boys at Rome, Italy. He founded the Piarist Fathers, a religious order of priests and Brothers dedicated to that work in 1617. He endured many trials, especially the calumnies of those who were jealous of his success. He died in 1648, and his feast day is August 25.

The Piarist Fathers
The Order of the Pious Schools (Piarist Fathers) is a religious order dedicated to the education of youth, particularly the poor. Nearly 1,500 priests and Brothers work in thirty-three countries. In the United States, they work in California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Kentucky, New York, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico.

Religious Brothers

There are two communities of religious brothers represented at Cardinal Gibbons.

Brother Michael Brickman, CSC, has been a member of the Brothers of the Holy Cross for more than 40 years. Brother Grant Ferris, O.S.F.S. an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales, has retired, but he comes back frequently to substitute.

Cardinal Gibbons is a Roman Catholic High School acting under the direction of the Archdiocese of Miami.
