Girls Soccer Edges North Broward Prep

The Girls Soccer Team (11-4-1) won a big district game last night defeating the North Broward Prep Eagles 1-0.  With the game tied in the 57th minute, KK Pawelczyk scored the game winner on an assist by Camila Abdulhafid.  Ryleigh Brown had 4 saves for the shutout.  12/16/14

Boys Basketball Takes 1st Place in Kreul Classic

The Boys Basketball Team took home the title of the Rock Challenge Bracket of the Kreul Classic by defeating Mount Vernon High School from New York 69-50.  The Chiefs finished 3-0 in the tournament.  On Friday the Chiefs defeated Pines Charter, and on Saturday they defeated Sagemont School who was the State's #1 ranked team in 3A.  Senior Jose Morales was named to the All-Tournament Team, and Junior Maverick Rowan was named Tournament MVP.  The Boys will rest up for a few days during Christmas then travel to Ocala for the Kingdom of the Sun Tournament.  12/23/14

Cross Country Sweeps Conference Meet #3

The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams each were victorious in their 3rd BCAA Conference Meet of the year.  Gillian Gulley finished 1st overall in the girls meet with a time of 23:10 while Cole Fiedler had the best time for the boys finishing 6th with a time of 18:56.  Both teams are now 22-0.     9/23/14

Girls Volleyball Wins East Coast Challenge

The Girls Volleyball team won the East Coast Challenge by defeating rival Pompano Beach 25-21, 25-23 in the Silver Bracket Final. The day didn't start out very good for the Lady Chiefs as they dropped their final game of pool play to Boone High School 21-25, 20-25. However their 2-1 record of pool play was enough to advance them to the semi-finals where they defeated Wellington 25-18, 24-26, 15-12. They then took care of business sweeping Pompano Beach in the finals to take home the hardware. Savannah Stones was named to the All-tournament team.

Football Beats Boyd Anderson 44-3

The Varsity Football team improved their record to 4-0 with an impressive victory over the Boyd Anderson Cobras 44-3. Sophomore QB Jake Allen connected with Senior WR Leroy Henley for two scoring strikes to lead the offense. The Special Teams contributed to the scoring with two touchdowns as well. Senior Tavares Moore scooped up a bad snap on a punt and returned the fumble for a 10 yard touchdown, and Milan Lemon returned a punt for a 65 yard touchdown. The Defense also put points on the board when DB CJ Maybin intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for the score. The Chiefs will try to remain unbeaten when they host the Northeast Hurricanes next Friday at 7:00pm.

Football Cruises Past Cowboys 31-7

The Varsity Football team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 31-7 victory over the Cooper City Cowboys. The Chiefs started fast scoring two long touchdowns in the 1st quarter. Senior Tyler Monaco connected with Sophomore Leroy Henley for a 61 yard TD strike, and Junior Deon McIntosh added a 53 yard TD run to give the Chiefs an early 14-0 lead. After the Cowboys cut the lead to 14-7, Sophomore QB Jake Allen hit Senior Jonathon Washington for an 80 yard touchdown to make the score 21-7. Senior Tyler Monaco then added his second touchdown pass of the game, this time to Senior Winston Jackson Jr. for 53 yards. Senior Declan Rodriguez finished the scoring with a 28 yard field goal to make the score 31-7. Senior Ryan Swanson lead the defense with two interceptions. Next up for the Chiefs is a matchup versus the Boyd Anderson Cobras next Friday at home at 7:00pm.

Fall 2014 tryout information is now available. Football, volleyball, cross country, golf, and swimming and diving begin their official seasons in August.  All students must have the mandatory athletic forms turned in before they may participate in any team practices.Read More

Girls Volleyball Beats Rival McCarthy

A day after losing a hard fought contest to rival St. Thomas, the Girls Volleyball team was able to rebound and beat our school's other rival Archbishop McCarthy.  The Lady Chiefs started slow dropping the first game 13-25, but they were able to rebound winning the next 3 games 25-22, 25-23, 25-15.   Daniella Molinari lead the team with 12 kills, 5 blocks, 8 service points, and 1 ace.  Teammate Kassie Akouri-Tejedor also played well contributing 26 assists, 3 digs, 13 service points, and 4 aces.  The Lady Chiefs are now 12-4.      9/25/14

Football Blanks Northeast 44-0

The Varsity Football team improved their record to 5-0 with an impressive 44-0 win over Northeast on Homecoming night. Junior running back Deon McIntosh rushed for a total of 145 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Chiefs. Junior quarterback Tyler Monaco finished 11 for 15 with 167 yards and 2 TD passes. The Chiefs have a bye next week and then will host the Coconut Creek Cougars on October 10.         9/27/14

Zach Allen Wins State Diving Championship

Sophomore Zach Allen brought home Gibbons' first hardware of the year winning the State Diving Championship at the Sailfish Aquatic Center in Stuart.  Trailing the leader going into his 9th dive, Allen nailed his attempt for his best dive of the day scoring 62 points giving him the lead for the first time of the competition.  On his 11th and final dive and needing 49 points for the win, Allen scored 56 points to lock up the State Title.  Allen finished with a total of 499 points which was 8 points ahead of second place.   11/17/14

Hockey Skates Past University/Cooper City 6-2

The Hockey Team handily defeated University/Cooper City 6-2 last night at the Panthers Iceden Arena.  Max Schwier scored two goals, and Team Captain Danny Bowman added a goal.  The Skating Chiefs next game will be on Sunday 11/16 at 3:15pm vs Western at the Panthers Iceden.  11/15/14

Lara and Pawelczyk Sign Letters of Intent

Baseball players Justin Lara and Nathan Pawelczyk both signed their letters of intent to play college baseball their next 4 years. Lara will be attending Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina while Pawelczyk will be attending Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  Both Lara and Pawelczyk have been key members of the Varsity Baseball Team since they were freshman.  Lara is the team's leadoff hitter and centerfielder, and Pawelczyk DH's and will be the team's ace on the mound.  11/12/14

Cross Country Headed to States

The Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams both qualified for the State Championship Meet with their showing in the Regional Championship Meet at Chain of Lakes Park in Titusville.  The Girls finished in 6th place while the Boys finished in 5th place.  The State Meet will take place on Saturday, November 15th at Apalachee Park in Tallahassee.  11/8/14

Boys Soccer Notches First Victory

The Boys Soccer Team (1-0-1) earned their first victory of the season by defeating the Plantation Colonels 4-3.  Andres Gonzalez lead the Chiefs with 2 goals including the game winner.  Francisco Perdido and Alex Dablassi each found the net one time for the Boys.

Our Scottish Chiefs Hockey team (Cardinal Gibbons & St. Andrews) glided to a conquest over Stoneman Douglas 6-1 last night at Panther Ice Stadium. Danny Bowman and Cavan Erisman scored goals for the Chiefs is the all-out team effort!Read More

Hockey Ties 6-6 in Season Opener

Cardinal Gibbons Hockey Team played their first game of the 2014-15 season against Archbishop McCarthy. The roster consists of players from Saint Andrew’s as well as Cardinal Gibbons. The team has been named the Scottish Chiefs, using both schools' mascots.  The inaugural game was celebrated with a ceremonial puck drop.
